This large family home is located in Richmond in the neighbourhood of Twickenham which is best known for being the home of English Rugby; Twickenham stadium is the largest in the world devoted solely to this sport! The property itself is just a 10 minute drive or a 16 minute bus journey from the stadium. However we highly recommend this delightful family home for any time of year, as Richmond itself is a leafy peaceful area with much to see and do!
The house has three storeys, as well as a sizeable manicured back garden lined with trees and hedges. On the ground floor of the house is a smart living area with an impressive fireplace and several sofas arranged by it. There is a flat-screen TV for guests to enjoy. On the next left is an elegant dining room for the more formal occasions, with an extendable table for 10 sitting under a crystal chandelier. There is direct access to the garden through patio doors which conveniently open directly onto the decked al-fresco dining area, so guests have the choice of enjoying their meal in the sunshine! Sitting at the rear of the house is the eat-in open-plan kitchen which also accesses the garden. Very well designed with style as well as practicality, the kitchen has beech cabinets with granite worktop and modern facilities for use. There is also an extendable breakfast table which is perfect for everyday dining.
As you climb the stairs to the first floor, you will find four bedrooms as well as the modern family bathroom which has a full-sized bathtub with fixed overhead shower and a separate WC. There is also a downstairs cloakroom, just off the kitchen. The first bedroom has white washed wooden floors and a single bed with a window looking out over the front of the house. Next to it is the larger second bedroom, furnished with a double bed as well as storage space and a study desk by the window. The third bedroom is similarly styled with a double bed, study desk and a lovely view of the garden! Across the hall is a single bedroom/study with a desk and computer. Located adjacent is a convenient bathroom, with a roll-top free standing bathtub.
On the top floor loft conversion, is an office/study with an en suite bathroom which is fitted with a tub and overhead shower. The adjoining fifth bedroom is furnished with a comfortable super-king sized bed and large built-in wardrobes.
This home is ideal for a group of eight who want a comfortable home in a leafy picturesque neighbourhood, yet able to reach Central London in under an hour. Strawberry Hill rail station is just a short walk from this property, with regular trains reaching Richmond in just two stops, where you can access the District line for Kensington and Westminster (a maximum 50 minute journey). The train from Strawberry Hill can reach Waterloo in just 38 minutes.
Close to this property is The Green and adjoining London Road which offer a wide selection of shops, restaurants, cafés and supermarkets. There is also a Farmer’s Market just off Holly Road as well as some excellent pubs dotted around in close vicinity. Richmond is known for its plentiful green open spaces, 30 minutes walk from you is Ham House and Gardens, a 17th century historical building set amongst wonderful grassy grounds, little changed in 300 years yet kept in great condition! The house has a tea room for visitors as well as numerous rooms displaying rich history (although it is said to be haunted by the Duchess of Lauderdale so beware!). Other historical attractions in the area include Hampton Court (Henry VIII's palace), Strawberry Hill House (Horace Walpole's Gothic mansion) and Marble Hill House.
Approximately 25 minutes south of you (18 minutes by bus) is Bushy Park, a huge 1100 acre Royal Park which is a favourite with locals for its fishing ponds, wildlife conservation areas and free-roaming deer! If you are in the mood for exercise, there is an excellent 9-hole Golf Course close by with a picturesque setting between Twickenham and Teddington
