Work restoring the historic Corporation Building, located in the centre of the happiest city in England, finished in 2008, making the first City Lodgings self-service apartment hotel. The facilities, location and roominess make it an ideal home away from home during business or leisure travel.

Fargate, the major Sheffield City Centre shopping area, is 8 minutes walk away, which has many of the major high street shops chains. The main Sheffield bus interchange on Arundel Gate is 9 minutes away, and the highly convenient Sheffield Supertram stops just three minues away, which will travel to Meadowhall shopping centre, the biggest in Yorkshire, Crystal Peaks shopping centre, or the pretty Sheffield suburb of HIllsborough.
About fifteen minutes stroll through the city centre and you will find Devonshire Quarter, home of many independent shops as well as restaurants, pubs, bars and clubs near Division Street and West street for an enjoyable evening and night time.
For sightseers, nearby Sheffield city centre landmarks include the theatre corner, the Sheffield Cathedral, the art deco library building, various art galleries, and the impressive indoor greenhouse called the Winter Garden.
The fully equipped kitchens including: a microwave, kettle, toaster, hob, oven, fridge/freezer, pots and pans, utensils, tableware, dining table and chairs, cutlery, bowls, plates, glasses and cups, and a washer/dryer. Utensils include cooking knives, fish slices, wooden spoons, scissors, etc. An iron and ironing board is also included.
The living spaces are roomier then you would find in a typical hotel. Furnishings are comfortable and clean. A sofa, coffee table and flat screen TV with Freeview and DVD player are all included.
Each bedroom can be set with either two single beds or one king bed, and some bedrooms can also accommodate a fold-up bed or a sofa bed for an additional charge.
In the one-bedroom apartments the living area and kitchen are combined into one room. The two- and three-bedroom apartments have separate kitchens and a larger living area.
The two- and three-bedroom apartments are three floors high, with kitchen and living area on the first floor, bathroom and bedroom on the second floor, and a second/third bedroom on the top floor. There is no elevator in the building.
Total floor space for a one-bedroom apartment is just less than 30m²; the two-bedroom apartments are just under 60m², and the three-bedroom apartments are approximately 70m²
The most convenient parking available is at a Q-Park multi-storey about 3 minutes walk away from the apartments. Collect parking vouchers from reception that reduce the price to £6/24h. Parking is paid for when the car is collected.
Guests may experience a small level of typical inner city noise but will otherwise find the apartments peaceful and homely.
There is no elevator in the building.
Check-in can be arranged at any time after 2pm, though after 6pm guests collect their own keys from a key locker. You will be sent instructions by email if required.
